Jeffrey Q. Guanlao a.k.a JickJick (1985-)
Jeffrey Q. Guanlao was born in Iloilo in the Philippines.
He is self-taught and full-time artist with no educational background in art.
Before he took up painting full-time, he was an accomplished tattoo artist, a transformative face painter for festivals in the Philippines, and also a musician.
Early in his career he participated in a number of group shows in his hometown Iloilo and in Manila. He was was presented by the Altromondo Gallery in the Art Fair Philippines in 2016.
His first solo exhibition was in Metro Manila with Art Galileia at Serendra Bonifacio Global City, Taguig in September 2016. He also had an exhibition in the Paseo Art Gallery in 2017.
He is known as JickJick.
He often explores complicated life experiences from childhood to adulthood in an often confused world. His deals with issues arising from the changes in Philippine society, where many people move away from family and community and experience isolation.
